Muscular Dystrophy & Myopathy

Muscular dystrophy is a type of degenerative myopathy, or muscle disease, commonly affecting skeletal muscles. Muscle disorders include myasthenia gravis, myositis and dermatomyositis—all leading to muscle deterioration. Symptoms include muscle weakness, muscle cramps, stiffness, spasm and developmental delays. Treatment and prognosis vary widely depending on type and severity of myopathy.
