Age Related Macular Degeneration & Vision Loss

As we age, our eyes undergo changes that can lead to vision problems or even vision loss. Presbyopia occurs as a natural part of aging. The eyes’ lenses lose flexibility, making it hard to focus on nearby objects. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye disease that destroys central vision. Symptoms of macular degeneration can include blurred vision and a blind spot in the middle of the visual field. Macular degeneration treatments include laser surgery (photocoagulation) and drug injections known as photodynamic therapy and anti-VEGF therapy. Certain vitamin supplements may be helpful.
