Kidney Stones

Kidney stones (renal calculi) are hard crystal deposits formed from materials in urine. A kidney stone forms in the kidney and may stay there or move into the urinary tract. The main symptom of kidney stones is pain—in the side, lower back, groin and/or abdomen. Other kidney stone symptoms include blood in urine, nausea, fever or vomiting. Kidney stones usually pass out of the body in urine. This is extremely painful, but medication can help. Sometimes other treatments are needed.
