Hypochondria & Factitious Disorders

Hypochondria is a mental illness in which a person is very fearful of having a serious disease and interprets everyday sensations as signs of illness. Factitious disorders are mental illnesses in which a person consciously makes up symptoms of a physical or mental illness, but is not sick. Munchausen syndrome and Munchausen syndrome by proxy are both types of factitious disorders.
