Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain

Chronic pain can take many forms. Fibromyalgia symptoms include widespread severe chronic pain, heightened sensitivity to pain and touch and fatigue, among others. Polymyalgia rheumatica involves muscles and joints, particularly the neck, shoulders and thighs. Myofascial pain syndrome affects the muscles. Giant cell arteritis causes jaw pain, headaches and visual symptoms resulting in blindness if not promptly treated. Chronic pain treatment may include medications or TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), exercise and physical therapy. Think you have fibromyalgia pain or another chronic pain syndrome? Talk to your doctor, who can diagnose the cause of your chronic pain and help with chronic pain management.
