The brain and nervous system receive, process and react to information provided by the senses. “Neuro” (neurological) problems can be caused by disease (e.g., neuropathy, atrophy, encephalopathy) or damage (e.g., concussion, nerve damage). And symptoms can range from the common (dizziness and vertigo) to more rare (ataxia, aphasia and dysphasia). Tests to evaluate the brain and nerves include MRI, CAT or CT scan, lumbar puncture (spinal tap), electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyogram and nerve conduction studies.
