Change Your Eating Habits to Lower Your Blood Pressure
Make Changes to Your Diet
Your doctor will probably recommend that you make small changes to your eating plan to help lower your blood pressure. You can start by eating less sodium and more potassium.
Eat Less Sodium
Sodium makes your body hold on to extra water so your heart has to work harder. Aim to eat less than 2,300 mg of sodium a day if you’re at risk of high blood pressure. If you already have it, eat less than 1,500 mg a day.
