Everyone gets angry, and channeling that anger constructively is an important part of emotional health. But when anger gets out of control it can turn violent. Violence can come in many forms—assault (including rape and sexual assault), domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, elder abuse and even workplace violence. Abuse is not always physical. It includes emotional abuse, verbal abuse and mental abuse. Signs of abuse are not always apparent. With family abuse, victims may find it difficult to leave abusive relationships.
